Cable/Harness Testing Made Easy.

Can cable assemblies really be built with "1 piece flow?"   While this goal of lean manufacturing seems elusive, Cirris coordinated the harness assembly line at the Assembly Technology Expo in Chicago last week to demonstrate how it is possible.   If you missed it, check out our video of the demonstration line.   We also explain how this technology can verify correct labels on discrete wires.

Once again the Wire Harness Manufacturers Association (WHMA.org) sponsored the "WPAL" wire harness production line at the Assembly Technology Expo in Chicago, IL.   Since wire harnesses have limited popularity as tradeshow souvenirs, this year we decided to make them into Halloween decorations!   Our real intent was to demonstrate the "single-piece flow" goal of lean manufacturing, and how labels on discrete wires in a harness can be checked for accuracy.   Often we were so busy making bat and skeleton harnesses we had little time to really talk about the technology.   To see a brief video of the line (and to request your own souvenir "2005 Halloween Bat Harness"):
